As if taking its cue from the fielding competition, the regularly scheduled
game (three-team format) boasted no offense this time around as Tony Gumaru,
Nesty Leyson and another hurler (please identify yourself) combined to
shutout intrasquad C while intrasquad A and B played to a 2-2-0 victory
draw. Except for a few seeing-eye grounders, there were no balls jumping
out from the batter's box. That off the heels of the preivous three games
when teams averaged a combined 14.3 runs a game...
Where did the offense go?
Game 1: 9 - 1 - 5
Game 2: 5 - 1 - 6
Game 3: 11 - 5 (two teams only)
Game 4: 2 - 2 - 0
There were also six runners caught on the basepaths, including two towards
home. Looks like more balanced competition this time.
Players attendance last Sunday: 28... Make your pitch for this Sunday's
figures on or before Saturday / 11:59 pm (minimum 26 players in attendance,
first three pitches only). Result to be released next week. Winner is
entitled to a free canned softdrink c/o Vince Alimurung.
A pitching machine (c/o Dino Lising) will be made available for use as
soon as we can raise funds (est. P2000) for a 100-150 meter industrial
grade extension cord.
Corrections, last issue: Arjay Santos (not RJ Manzano) credited with three-run
homer of 11-5 win by home squad... Franz Bonoan also among eight heroes
who showed up for camp on August 11 -editor
