Thursday, September 25 Titans Series Weathers Storm The quest for the ultimate Titan has begun. You could not have asked for a better weekend this time of year as the 2003 Titans Series took to Marist Field under mostly clear skies, setting the stage for Sunday's play-offs. Teams Uranus (2-1) and Crius (2-1) climbed out of the first weekend by each winning a pair to gain homefield advantage, with the former earning the top seed by virtue of run differential despite losing 6-3 to Crius on Sunday. Defending champion Team Atlas (0-2-1) could only muster a draw over the weekend when Arjay Santos delivered a game-tying two-run triple late in their game Sunday to pull out a 5-5 tie with Team Cronus (1-1-1) which got four runs batted in from Vince Alimurung. Uranus, last year's runner-up, opened the Series on Saturday with a bang by blasting Atlas 12-6 behind two rbi's apiece from five different players. Atlas then dropped the trailer of their doubleheader against Team Crius which got four rbi from Joseph Orillana for a 9-3 whipping. Team Cronus closed out Saturday with a rousing 13-8 win over Crius behind Nesty Leyson's 5 for 5 performance and three rbi's. Sunday showed a similar trend as both Teams Cronus and Uranus succumbed in the second game of their scheduled doubleheaders. Bacchus Ledesma drove home four runs and Arvin Cirunay another three as Uranus dealt Team Cronus its first defeat (excluding defaults) of the Titans Series dating back to last year. Crius then claimed the Series' second seed when it broke a 3-3 tie with three runs in the seventh to beat Uranus.
