Titans League Takes The Field
Making dreams a reality. Adult amateur and recreational baseball in the
Philippines enters a new era when the 2003 Titans
League makes its pitch beginning April 26.
The
league brings together 140 adults of various backgrounds and skill levels
onto the same playing field, opening its doors to competitive baseball
in a recreational environment.
In line with the development of the adult game in the country, the league
as part of the club's three-tiered program, shall provide a vantage point
for affilition with the United States' amateur ranks, notably the Men's
Senior Baseball League/Men's Adult Baseball League or the National Adult
Baseball Association.
The process of consolidating various adult baseball interests in the country
is paramount to the best interests of the game. We should no longer point
fingers lest we all share the blame, but rather take those little steps
in the right direction. The league should provide a testing ground.
Meanwhile, RJ Manzano, assistance coach of reigning UAAP champion De La
Salle University, was appointed as Titans League Commissioner.
Draft Day Suspense
The semi-annual Titans League draft has given birth to the country's newest
teams: Alabang and Makati. The draft, whose purpose is to provide competitive
parity as well as an avenue for walk-in individuals to play on a team,
realizes popular participation in the game.
