FUTURE TITANS?

Looking Ahead With Kids
Lurking around little league fields across the nation is the future of Philippine baseball. Kids off all backgrounds have been exposed to baseball both on and off the field.
Yet the country has not produced a talent base deserving of international cognizance. While we may indeed have a popular grassroots program as provided by Little League and Tot Baseball chapters among others, there has been a lack of development with respect to the adult game, thereby compromising youth development in the process.
Such a void in streamlining baseball development has now been filled with the emergence of the Titans Baseball Club, whose mission and vision underscore the continuity of the game at the adult level that is very essential in raising the quality of Philippine baseball towards international standards.
In that light, the youth can now look forward to a future in baseball. Given a consolidated program with the proper foundations and guided by a vision that caters to popular invlovement in baseball at the adult level, it should take about 15 years before we can churn out a sustainable talent base deserving of international cognizance. Such will provide a measure of success regarding the impact of Titans Baseball on development.
The greatest impact of Titans Baseball on the youth will be felt on those eight year-olds and under. Keep an eye on them.
Alfonso Fores, Jaime Brias, Mickey Onglao, Quito Castro, Anton Manzano, Juanjo Araneta, Rafael Squillantini, Justin Mathay, Nick Ching, Leandro Banzon, Nico CuUnjieng, Reiji Cumagun, Fausti Preysler, Pritak Patel, Ado Inigo, Enzo Agcaoili, James Zamora, Nathan Arellano and Mauro Bengzon. These are but a handful of players scoured from the International Little League Association of Manila's coach-pitch division. There are several others besides these. Just how many will pursue baseball at the adult level however, depends on a host of factors. |
